Is it God’s will?

This past presidential election has brought to my attention some concerning facts about Christianity in America. It is disconcerting to say the least, to see people who claim to be followers of Jesus to act with such little faith in God. So many people have shifted their trust in God and have placed it on a political party or individual. Some are afraid and uncertain about the future because their political party did not win the election. Social media shows the frustration of many regarding what is going on in our nation. People have stopped talking to friends and family because of their support of a political candidate, whom they would not approve. Why all this animosity and hate toward those who did not vote like you? If you are a committed Christian, ask yourself; is this God’s will for our nation? Was it God’s will that Trump be the president?
If people knew God, they would know that nothing escapes his will. He accomplishes his will even through sinful individuals. Therefore, since it was his will that Trump win the election, why do you behave as if God is not in control? Why do you act as if God would not accomplish his purpose through an imperfect human being? If you knew God, you would know that he could use anyone or anything to accomplish his plan. Furthermore, God used Pharaoh to accomplish his will in Egypt; he used the Babylonians to accomplish his purpose in punishing his own people. God is the one who changes seasons; he removes kings and sets up kings. (Dan.2:21). God will use whoever the president of our nation is to accomplish his will. Throughout history, God has used leaders to bless a nation or to punish it, but everything that happened was his divine plan. Nothing escapes his will.
As followers of Jesus, you are not trusting God if you are living in fear because of who is governing the nation. Paul reminds us to give thanks to God in all circumstances for that is God’s will for us in Christ Jesus. (1 Thessalonians 5:18).
“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose (Romans 8:28)
Followers of Jesus should not lose sight of the fact that God is able to bring good things even out of sinful and evil situations because he is sovereign over the world. It was God’s will to crush his Son. (Jesus’ suffering and death was the Father’s will for him) Isaiah 53:10
Followers of Jesus in the world should always trust God in every situation for he is in control. It is evident to me that so few Christians genuinely trust God with their future. We must always remember that our trust is in God and not in a political party or leader, whoever they may be. God will continue to accomplish his will in our midst no matter what happens today or tomorrow. Nothing escapes his will.
