Faith or Fear

At any given situation we will respond either with faith or fear.  Jesus confronted his disciples’ fear that night as they were going to the other side of the Lake of Galilee; the story where Jesus was asleep in the boat while the disciples battled against the waves. (Mark 4:40).  The disciples woke Jesus in panic mode.  “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?”  Jesus got up, rebuked the wind and calmed the storm, then he asked this piercing question: “Why are you so afraid?  Do you still have no faith? (You still don’t trust me?)

Jesus’ point is clear, when you have faith you are not afraid.  And if you are afraid is because you have no faith.  Faith and trust don’t mix.  They are opposites.  God wants his followers to be fearless in this world and the only way we could eliminate fear from our lives is by trusting Jesus with our lives.  The more you know Jesus, the more you will trust him.  Are you still fearful about things in this world?  do you hear the words of the Master?  “Why are you so afraid? You still don’t trust me?”
When you truly trust Jesus, you are truly fearless.
