God’s Final Word

God’s Final Word
Hebrews 1:1-3

There are so many means of communications; people use all kinds of devices to communicate with others, radio, phone, letters, symbols, text, face to face communication.  Communication is a very important thing; a relationship would not thrive if there is not good communication.  With all the technological gadgets and developments, we have today, you can communicate with someone across the globe; Seeing soldiers wish Merry Christmas to their families via a phone or computer camera.  Nevertheless, nothing replaces face to face interaction; to see the person in front of you is priceless.
When God created humanity; they enjoyed direct communication with God, their creator. Imagine people being able to talk with God face to face; their relationship was flawless. (The two chairs)
Then something happened that disrupted the communication, the relationship between the Creator and the creation.  Sin entered the world.
How would you like to be better?  Gn.3
Sin is to go against God’s authority; this is what mankind chose back in the Garden.  Sin is separation from God.
From that moment on humanity has been running away from God.  God took the initiative to fix this problem created by sin.  God began to communicate his plan to certain individuals, so they would tell others.
God would speak to them through a thick cloud, visions and dreams.  Through the prophets.  Heb.1:1-2
In the past God spoke to our fathers by the prophets at many time and in various ways.  God began to reveal his plan; he began to announce what he would do in order to bring people back to himself.  “Thus says the LORD” If you seek me with all your heart, you will find me.
-“The LORD himself will give you a sign, a virgin will be with a child and give birth to a Son and will call his name Immanuel.  Isa.7:14

The prophets announced that God would ultimately to the unthinkable in his restoring humans back to him.
In the past, God spoke to our fathers via the prophets, but in these last days.
“In these last days” (the writer penned these words in the first century).  In the past, BC, but in these last days (AD) It’s been two thousand years since God spoke through his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe.

John 1:1 in The beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God.  He was with God in the beginning.  Through him all things were made without him nothing came into existence.
The word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. John 1:14  (God moved into our neighborhood)
We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. (John 1:14)
Hebrews 1: 3 The Son is the radiance of God’s glory, the exact representation of his being.
God moved into our world in Jesus.  To see Jesus was to see God.  God became a man to live in our sinful world; he came to rescue us from the penalty of our sins.  He came to bring us back to God.  He came so that you and I can enjoy fellowship with God once again.  Jesus is the solution to our sinful problem.  Through Jesus you and I can be friends with God and members of his eternal family.  In these last day God spoke to us through Jesus.
Jesus was and is God’s final word to us.  God is not sending any other message; his message is final, and he is not changing it.
His message is, I love you so much that I gave you my Son, so that if you believe in him you will be saved.

God has spoken; how are you going to respond?  You will either ignore the message or you will receive it.  Ignoring God’s final communication has severe consequences.
John 3:36 Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on him.

Embracing the Son is how God expects you to respond to his gracious offer.
